A je to tady: zcela nová rubrika na blogu! Vítejte v Music Monthly!!! A co víc, vítejte v mém historicky prvním blogovém příspěvku publikovaném v obou jazycích :) No není to super? Teda jestli chcete ;) Nejsem si jistá, jakou formu tyto články budou mít: možná to bude malá hitparáda, možná zdůrazním pár zásadních tracků a ostatní jen vyjmenuji... Uvidíme, jak to dopadne. Takže dost úvodu, pojďme na to! :)

P.S. Ano, poslouchám i jinou hudbu než Take That ;)

Here it is: a brand new feature on the blog! Welcome to Music Monthly!!! More than that, welcome to the historically my first ever post to be published in both my languages :) Isn’t it cool? To explain what Music Monthly is/will be about: more or less regular posts somehow summarizing my musical experience of the previous month. As I was looking back at 2011 I realized that what you go through in life often reflects in the songs that keep you company. And through these songs that are with you in your good times and in bad, you build a relationship to a new interpret or a new style of music that you haven’t listened to before. So this will be a monthly insight into what songs have caught my attention, which ones got stuck in my head, etc. :) What’s in it for you? A collection of songs, both old and new, that you might or might not know. And if you take the trouble and dare to look under the surface, you might find out something about me. If you want to, that is ;) I’m not sure yet what form the articles will take: it might be a mini chart, or I could point out a few key tracks and only list some other ones… Let’s see what will happen. So that’s enough introduction, let’s dig into it! :)

P.S. Yes, I do listen to other music than Take That ;)

P.P.S. Sorry but unfortunately all the clips are from Vevo and are disabled to be played on this site. You'll have to play them on YouTube.

Ta druhá překypuje energií a radostí. Tady jsou: All I Want For Christmas Is New Year’s Day od elektro-popového dua z Manchesteru, které si říká Hurts. Druhá je Domino od jedinečné Jessie J. Chronologically speaking I began the year with 2 brilliant songs. One full of quiet hope and excitement over the unknown that is to come. The other overflows with energy and joy. Here they are: All I Want For Christmas Is New Year’s Day by Mancunian electropop duo called Hurts. The second one is Domino by the unique Jessie J.

;) A now a special treat for my English speaking friends :D It doesn’t happen very often, but occasionally there is a new Czech song that catches my attention. And this is the very case. The piece is called Nina and was written by a young singer/songwriter by the name of Tomáš Klus. To me he’s more like a poet with a guitar. He’s strongly influenced by the Czech tradition of folk songwriters. This song is a really beautiful poem. I like it for it’s about and how it is… Interestingly, although sung by a man, the lyrics are told from a woman’s perspective and they deal with unlucky love… It’s about the constant pains and hopes of an affection that is not reciprocated, but impossible to abandon… Forgive me, I am not that much of a poet to translate even a few lines and do them justice. But trust me that language-wise it’s very well written.

A teď něco zcela jiného! Avicii – Levels And now for something completely different! I admit I do get influenced by stuff on the radio. Chances are if you play it to me often I will grow to like it. That’s getting to know new musical genres. I heard this on Radio 1. Stuck in my head, makes me sing and dance. Never seen the video up until now. It’s quite funny. Avicii – Levels

Mimochodem teprve druhé no.1 pro Coldplay. Paradise. Se sloníkama a tak. Nemusím vám to vysvětlovat, že ne? Všichni víte, že je dokonalá ;) And the winner for January is… You know what I mean. This one has been around since the end of the last year. And it’s still here and it’s still important. It was the very first no. 1 of 2012 in the Chart. Btw, it’s only the second no. 1 Coldplay have had. Paradise. With the cute elephants and all. No need to explain, is there? You all know it’s perfect ;)

P.S. Večné díky patří ObiSkyWalkerovi, šlechetnému zachránci, díky němuž se tahle dvousloupečková a dvojjazyčná věc mohla stát skutečností!

That wasn’t too bad for the first time, was it? I hope you liked it at least a little bit. I’ll see you in about a month for the second edition of Music Monthly, or earlier for something Take That, or who knows… :)

P.S. An eternal Thank you goes to ObiSkiWalker, the knight in shining armour who made this two-column, bilingual thing possible!

God save the Queen, God save good music and God save all of you!
